Some of the most effective programs against crime prevention
provided by this
department are these
programs provided for
free. They enable any
citizen the ability to
“take charge” and
provide an effective
deterrent to the
different types of crime
in their community.
Also, these programs
give an excellent
measure of safety to the
public, when alone or
when in a crowd.
Although not perfect,
through the years they
have provided an
outstanding umbrella of
protection to the
citizens of Jones
County.
Neighborhood
Watch: A voluntary “self-help”
crime prevention effort
centered on the
community and local law
enforcement working
together for the safety
and protection of your
neighborhood.
Child ID Program: Parents may bring in their children to be finger-printed and
cataloged at no cost to
the parents. Along with
providing law
enforcement awareness to
the very young public,
this outstanding program
provides a measure of
security to the parents
knowing that their child
is “ID’d” in case of an
emergency.
Traffic Control: The department also provides
assistance to the
motoring public at large
public gatherings at no
cost. Sheriff Deputies
routinely provide safety
assistance at funerals,
weddings, church
functions, etc.
Guest Speaker Services: The department routinely provides law enforcement guest speakers
at a multitude of
functions throughout the
year. The subjects range
from Homeland Security,
Workplace Violence,
Crime Against the
Elderly, Crime in Our
Schools, and many more.
These services are also
provided free of charge.
Self-Defense Class for
Women: Presented when
requested, these classes
are presented for women
within the county to
show how to better
protect themselves when
at home and in the
public. |
